Save money on
used Golf Clubs

Used golf clubs can usually be purchased for much less than regular retail price. They might be a good option for the recreational golfer. It is not absolutely necessary to play with 14 clubs. For a beginner, a used set consisting of a #3, 5 and 7 wood, irons #4 through #9, two wedges and a putter might be all that is needed.

It might be better to buy a set of new quality clone clubs.

These are some things to check, when looking for used clubs:

  • Check the club head for excessive usage. Worn spots in the center of the club or indentations in the club face might affect the ball flight.
  • Make sure all the shafts in the set are the same, either all steel or graphite. Check the shafts for worn areas or indentations.
  • If the grips are worn too much, they might have to be regripped. The cost for regripping is about $5-15 per club. This cost might be acceptable, if the clubs are in good shape and reasonably priced.
  • Compare the price for the used set to a new set of the same model.

Before you buy used clubs, check if special sales or discontinued models are available.
