Polo Golf Shirts

Polo golf shirts became popular in the latter half of the twentieth century. In 1929 tennis player Rene Lacoste, decided that the long sleeve tennis shirts were too inconvenient and created a short sleeve tennis shirt. This type of shirt was also used as a golf shirt. The term polo shirt became widely known, when Ralph Lauren established a clothing line Polo.

Today, most or all sport clothing marketers have a line of polo shirts. Many offer a variety of shirt styles, colors and fabrics.

Golf sport shirts are also available in many designs for women of all ages. Importance is put on comfort and style. For example, the Adidas 100% polyester Coolmax Extreme offers UV protection, a mesh back body and sleeves for more breathability. Other shirts feature a combination of fabrics like 50% cotton and 50% polyester.

Many stores offer custom embroidered shirts for individuals or organizations.
