Improve your Golf Score
with Golf Strength Training

Golf strength training is important, if you want to improve your score, enjoy your game more and feel better. No matter what your age is, resistance training can help you get into shape and prevent injuries.

For golfers, strength training can add power to their swing, boost endurance and lower their score.

One important part of the golf swing is swing strength, which is the most overlooked factor. In order to achieve a more powerful swing, your body needs to support a stronger swing.

Strength training involves lifting weights or working out on machines at home or at a gym. Before you start, check with your doctor to get approval to start your training.

If you don't feel comfortable at a gym or if there are no gyms in your area, you can do your exercise at home. When you start out, you can do simple aerobic exercises with a couple of dumbbells.

You can do standing dumbbell curls. Curl a pair of dumbbells up to shoulder level and hold for a second before returning to the starting position. Repeat about 10-15 times.

A popular exercise is the bicycle maneuver, which you can use in your strength training:

  • Lie on the floor on your back and put your hands beside your head.
  • Bring your knees up to about 45 degrees and slowly perform a bicycle pedal rotation.
  • Touch your left elbow to your right knee, then your right elbow to your left knee.
  • Do this for about one minute.
