The Golf Handicap allows Players to compete on an equal Basis
The USGA indicates that the purpose of the golf handicap system is to make the game of golf more enjoyable. This is done by having players of different abilities compete on an equal basis. The system provides a handicap for each player.
The player's handicap is adjusted as the player's game changes.
A Handicap Index compares a player's scoring to the scoring of a scratch golfer. The Index is based on 20 scores and is adjusted
by the course and slope rating.
A course rating is based on the scoring of a scratch golfer under normal conditions. Yardage and other conditions that affect scoring are included.
