Improve your Game with Golf Exercise
Most golfers rely too much on the equipment. They ignore golf exercise, mental game and
playing condition. Especially, flexibility training is important, if you want to improve your
golf swing power and driving distance. If you are inflexible, you will not be able to take full
back swings.
You need to exercise mainly the middle of your body, abdominals and lower back. This is also
the area most susceptible to injury.
Every golfer wants to achieve golf swing consistency. They take lessons, buy new equipment, but it does not make much of a difference.
If you want to improve your game, you need to set up an exercise program. There are several
simple exercises that will strengthen your abdominals and back.
The seated twist is an excellent stretching exercise. It will loosen your back and
allow you to have a greater back swing. This will result in more power and more
distance.
- Sit upright in a chair
- With your left arm reach behind you and rotate to the left
- Hold this position for about 10 seconds
- Then reach behind you with your right arm and rotate to the right and hold also for about 10 seconds
A floor exercise:
- Sit on the floor with knees bend, heels
on the floor and point toes up
- Lean back and rotate shoulders and chest to the right and then to the left, while holding your hands in front
- Do this about 15 times
The results of these golf exercises will:
- help to increase driving distance
- lower your handicap
- help reduce injuries
If you play a lot of golf, it might be helpful to buy an exercise video. This will give you more choices of exercises and also help in performing exercises properly.
