Lower your Score
with these Golf Tips

Below are golf tips that can help improve your game:

  • Swing easy into the wind. This will help you from over swinging and keep the ball from sailing too high. If you play into the wind, use a club with a lower number and with the wind hit a club with a higher number. The club to use will depend on the speed and direction of the wind.
  • Use a shorter club for a downhill lie. The club selection will depend on the wind, rain and other conditions. Play the ball off your right foot.
  • For an uphill lie slant your shoulders up the slope and align the left foot with the ball. Aim slightly right off the target, while swinging arms up the slope.
  • When reading the green, recognize the direction of the grain. If the grass looks shiny, the grain is away from you. If it looks dull, the grain is pointing to you. The grain will affect the roll of the ball. The speed of the ball will be faster with the grain and slower against the grain.
  • Flexibility training is important if you want to improve your golf swing and distance. It will also reduce injuries. Warm up exercises are important before hitting the first tee shot. As a minimum perform these exercises: 1.) Do arm circles. Raise arms out to the side and make circles for about 15 seconds. Do circles in both direction.
2.) Hold a club at each end and place it over the shoulders behind your head. Rotate your upper body to the left and right.
An important golf tip: do not rely too much on the equipment. Take some lessons and start a golf exercise program.
